Pulsar Process Measurement: Brings in Flow Pulse to monitor pipe flow

Pulsar Process Measurement has brought in Flow Pulse, a compact and cost-effective pipe flow monitor that promises exceptional repeatability, accuracy and simple installation with no down time. Flow Pulse is perfect for monitoring flow rate in fluid distribution systems, for pump efficiency checks, in process plant or sewage pumping stations. Flow Pulse can be used in flow measurement and in ease of installation - no need to break into a pipe, or to get any engineering involved, just clamp a small sensor to the outside of a pipe and immediately get a reliable, repeatable flow measurement. Virtually no installation costs, no interruption to service is required. Flow Pulse uses a novel spread spectrum analysis technique never before used in flow monitoring. It introduces a radical new digital signal processing approach for repeat ability. Flow Pulse operates in a flow range from as little as 0.3m/s through to 4m/s, with a minimum particle size of 100ยต and concentration of 200ppm or above (the equivalent of hard water). Greyline Offers PTFM 1.0 portable flowmeters

The PTFM 1.0 portable transit time flowmeter operates by measuring the transit time or time of flight for ultrasonic sound pulses transmitted from one transducer to another. Depending on the mounting configuration, the signal may cross the pipe once, twice or four times. To measure flow the transit time is compared between ultrasonic signals travelling upstream and downstream. The PTFM 1.0 ultrasonic transducers strap-on the outside of pipes from ½" to 48" (12 to 1200 mm) diameter. The ultrasonic signal works through common pipe materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, cast iron, PVC, PVDF, fiberglass, copper, brass, aluminum and pipes with bonded liners including epoxy, rubber and Teflon. Transducers can be mounted without shutting down flow and there is no obstruction or pressure drop. It measures and totalizes forward and reverse flow. They have been recommended for fluids like water, glycol, oils and chemicals. They can be used for calibrations, troubleshooting, and flow surveys and as a temporary transmitter to replace inline flowmeters. For more enquiries, contact: info@greyline.com.

Val Matic Offers Ener G ball valves

Val-Matic's Ener-G rubber seated ball valve is a versatile valve designed for tight seating, energy savings and long life. The Ball Valve's Tri-Loc seat retention system uses technology that has been proven in the field for over 35 years. Both single and double-seated valves are available for sealing in one or two directions with the resilient seat completely out of the flow stream when fully open. Also when fully open the valve provides 100% flow area equal to the pipe size and represents a significant savings in pumping costs compared to other pump control valves. The valves' rugged AWWA construction and interior/exterior coating of NSF 61 fusion bonded epoxy contribute to long valve life which is crucial because no one can afford to have their system down for repairs. The valve is available in AWWA classes 150 lb. and 300lb. in sizes 4"-48" with cylinder, electric motor or manual actuation for pressure ranges up to 300 PSI. The valve fully complies with AWWA C507 and is WQA certified lead-free in accordance with NSF/ANSI 372. For more enquiries, contact: ajk@valmatic.com.

BASF Expands Ultramid product line for water injection technology

BASF is expanding its assortment of polyamide grades that have been optimized for the use of water-injection technology (WIT) in injection molding. The new WIT grades are Ultramid A3HG6 WIT Balance and Ultramid A3WG7 WIT. Owing to its improved hydrolysis resistance, the polyamide (PA) Ultramid A3HG6 WIT Balance is particularly well-suited for components that carry coolant or that come into contact with water. At the same time, the content of PA 6.10 in this material also translates into high stress-cracking resistance to calcium chloride, thus taking into account the more stringent requirements made in terms of resistance to road salt. Particularly in Asia, calcium chloride is often spread on icy roads. In contrast, BASF recommends its new Ultramid A3WG7 WIT, which is reinforced with 35% glass fibers, especially for tubes that convey oil such as those employed for dipsticks, or else for other components that have to meet high demands in terms of oil resistance, stiffness and dimensional stability. Both materials lend themselves very well for WIT processing. For more enquiries, contact: ultraplaste.infopoint@basf.com.

KSB Launches new generation Etanorm pumps

KSB has launched the latest generation of its Etanorm standardized water pump series, which has been produced non-stop since 1936. The type series of the new generation of KSB's Etanorm standardized water pump comprises 43 pump sizes, which can be driven by either 2-pole or 4-pole motors. The selection chart has been extended by additional pump sizes, so that sizes can be selected even closer to the best efficiency point. The pump sets meet the EU requirements of Commission Regulation 547/2012/EC for water pumps, which will enter into force in 2015. Ipl Spot Fixing BIG names being kept under wraps

More and more dirt is likely to spill out in the spot fixing scandal in the days ahead. But are some key players being protected by the police because of political pressure? Renu Mittal reports

The Indian Premier League slot-fixing scam is becoming murkier.

Sources say that big names are involved, but so far attempts are on to pressurize the police to keep much of the scam under wraps and ensure that only the small fish are fried.

The Mumbai Police made its first arrest from the Bollywood. Legendary Dara Singh's son Vindoo Dara Singh was arrested after a bookie named him in the ongoing interrogations.

During interrogation, Vindoo said he was close to the son-in-law of one of the BCCI franchise owners who called him and asked him to sit with Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's wife Sakshi while she was watching the match.

The footage of Vindoo and Sakshi in VIP gallery has been shown repeatedly on television. The police have solid information on him, including phone calls and transcripts of intercepted calls, and hope that his interrogation would lead them to other players in the game.

The police have also arrested Hawala operator Alpesh Patel, who was in touch with a large number of bookies. It was through Patel that a large amount of money was transferred between India and Dubai, claim the cops.

They hope that this arrest will lead them to the money trail and help them to solve the mystery of how funds were generated and then transferred, and unravel the big kingpins who operated the scam.

Sources say that with competition increasing between police forces in Delhi and Mumbai to outperform each other, a number of persons are under the scanner and each arrest is giving the police more leads on the persons involved.

Interestingly, sources also say that the police have much more information than it is revealing. Each person who has been arrested is using the names of very powerful people in the hope that those people would save their skin.

Much would depend how far the police is willing to play ball with the political bosses and whether attempts to protect the high and mighty, many of whom are said to be involved in the IPL mess, would bear fruit or not.

Congress leaders were gunning for Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar not so long ago. But after the spot fixing revelations, that has become difficult. Kumar's tenure as police commissioner ends next month and there is considerable speculation that attempts are afoot to send him on leave by the end of this month, which looks more than doubtful as he probably has more information than he can handle.

Those who know the Dara Singh's family say that the late actor has left his son a great deal of property. The fact that he still involved himself in betting and match fixing appears to indicate that it is possible that the money changing hands was much more than he could say no to.

It is also interesting that the IPL final is likely to be played between Chennai and Mumbai. BCCI President N Srinivasan controls Chennai while industrialist Mukesh Ambani owns Mumbai. There are also reports in the market that Ambani is keen to become a bigger player in cricket and would not like to limit his role to just the ownership of the Mumbai IPL team.

The fact that Subroto Roy of Sahara has pulled out from the IPL and told the BCCI to find a new sponsor for the Indian cricket team for 2014, speculation is that this could clear the decks for Ambani to sponsor the Indian team and make further inroads into the cricket establishment.

IPL commissioner Rajiv Shukla is an MP and minister and has strong links with Sharad Pawar, another powerful player in the cricket establishment.

Shukla is known to be just one of the many people known to be close to the house of Ambanis. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan too has close links with Shukla.

All bigwigs of cricket are interrelated, by social friendship or by business interests.

While sources allege that some key players are being protected by the police because of political pressure, it is also likely that with more of those arrested trying to save their skin, it may be inevitable that more and more dirt may spill out in the days ahead.

Five days police custody for CSK boss Gurunath Meiyappan

Chenai Super Kings CEO and BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was on Saturday sent to police custody for five days till May 29 by a Mumbai court on Saturday, according to Times Now.

Meiyappan was grilled by Mumbai crime branch for several hours following his arrest on Friday night in IPL betting scandal. He had been summoned by Mumbai Police for questioning after his name cropped up in the betting scandal following arrest of actor Vindu Dara Singh on May 21.

Meanwhile, contrary to the earlier reports of Srinivasan meeting Meiyappan in Mumbai on Saturday evening, the BCCI boss distanced himself from the controversy by leaving for Kolkata where CSK will be facing Mumbai Indians for the IPL 6 finals on Sunday.
