World Internet Users Reached 2.4 Billion

Internet users in the world’s population continues to increase. Now, the number has touched an enormous number.

In the event the D11 Conference held by the site AllThingsD, which comes from Mary Meeker firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Meeker, revealed that internet users across the world has touched the figure of 2.4 billion people. That number increased by 8 percent from the previous year.Despite making an unusually large number, of which only covers 34 percent of the world population.


Indonesia is one country with the most Internet users with 55 million people. The value had increased 58 percent over the previous year. However, the penetration rate is not too large, which is only 23 percent.
Countries with the highest internet penetration rate held by the United States. With the number of users as many as 244 million people, the country’s penetration rate reached 78 percent.


Internet usage from mobile devices are increasing dramatically. According to Meeker, Internet users from mobile devices is only 0.9 percent of all internet traffic in May 2009. A year later, the percentage rose to 2.4 percent.
In May 2013, global mobile internet users has touched the figure of 15 percent and will increase to 30 percent by the end of 2014.
