Banco Santander sold some 910 million euros

He sold the Chilean group CorpBanca by 1,225 million dollars (about 910 million euros).
The transaction Spanish financial group generated a profit of 615 million euros.

The Banco Santander sold Banco Santander Colombia and its subsidiaries in the country the group CorpBanca Chile by 1,225 million dollars (about 910 million euros), which Spanish financial group generated a profit of 615 million euros.

The Santander Group has informed the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has reached agreement with Corp Banca to sell business units in Colombia.

Banco Santander in the Latin American country has a market share of 2.7 percent in credit and resources, with amounts of 2,100 and 3,200 million euros, respectively, a workforce of around 1,400 employees and a network of 78 offices.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2012 and is subject to obtaining regulatory approvals and a delisting tender offer aimed at the minority shareholders, owners of 2.15% of the bank's capital.

Businesses affected by the transaction (Banco Santander Colombia and the group's subsidiaries in that country) in 2010 reached a profit of $ 54 million, 0.5% of the total benefit of Grupo Santander.

The Santander Group to strengthen its balance the gains on the sale of Banco Santander Colombia and its other subsidiaries, amounting to 615 million euros.
